The Institute of Continuing Legal Studies and Education, Inc. was organized by law practitioners with executive experience in the fields of finance and business:

  1. To design, manage and conduct, in collaboration with an accredited educational institution and/or by itself, the following educational programs:
     
    • Seminars and teach-ins on the legal aspects of special fields of business and related activities, such as banking and finance, the equity, capital, money, derivatives and commodity markets, and intentional trade practices/relations and international agreements, not ordinarily included as part of regular courses—in which participants who have complied with the prescribed requirements will be awarded a Certificate of Participation;
       
    • Post-graduate programs on the courses above described leading to a Master of Laws degree; and
       
    • Off-campus or “distance” paralegal courses, with on-the-job training, leading to the award to those who have complied wit the prescribed requirements of a Certificate of Professional Paralegal Competence.
     
  2. To undertake and conduct continuing researches and studies on various fields of law, including the organization, “sheppardizing” and computer programming of laws and jurisprudence applicable to the Philippines, the rules and regulations of important regulatory offices and agencies of the government, and commentaries by acknowledged authorities or experts on the foregoing; and to establish and operate a center for making available to law firms and practitioners such researches/studies as applied to specific cases or to a given set of facts;
     
  3. To regularly publish a “Fiat Lux Law Review” that will feature articles, tracts and commentaries on subjects and matters of great or significant interest to the law profession, including controversial existing and proposed laws, recent major decisions of the Supreme Court, and current events and developments impacting on the law profession or the administration of justice in the country; and to engage in the dissemination of information on the foregoing subjects and matters through media and public fora; and
     
  4. To engage or be involved in the advocacy of public interest cases.
